Brown Butter Garlic Mushrooms

Mushrooms make a wonderful side dish to pretty much any meal. These delicious, brown butter garlic mushrooms are super easy and simple to make.

Brown Butter Crazy…

I’ve been on a bit of a brown butter binge lately. I have been baking and cooking with it several times a week. It made sound complicated or a bit of a hassle to some of you, but it’s 100% worth the 5 minutes of browning butter, to take so many foods to the next level.

Simply place the butter in a frying pan (or saucepan if you want to bake with it) and melt it over a medium heat, swirling it every 30-45 seconds, for 4-5 minutes, until it has melted and is lightly golden brown.

Perfecting This Mushroom Dish…

  1. To remove the dirt from mushrooms, de-stem them and then peel off the skin. Do this by starting at the base of the mushroom, and a bit peel the skin from the bottom to the top.
I have made the mistake of washing mushrooms in the past, but I won’t ever do it again. They absorb far too the water (even after they have been patted dry with a paper towel), which ultimately affects the texture of them. So please, take it from me, don’t wash them…just peel them.
  2. Season them after they have caramelised – Mushrooms taste infinitely better when they are seasoned at the end of cooking, not during the cooking process. Also, garlic burns pretty quickly, so it is best to add it once you see the mushrooms are golden brown.
  3. My last tip for the making the best brown butter garlic mushrooms, is to use the same size mushrooms. This ensures they all cook evenly.
