Chocoholic Extraordinaire…

Everyone who knows my husband, knows he is a massive chocoholic! Before going keto, the most common presents he received at Christmas (every year!) were boxes of chocolates! Even though he loved them all, his favorites were the chocolate-orange ones! So when I was developing this recipe, I constantly had him in mind.

The Best Lazy Dessert…

As you guys probably know by now, I absolutely love spending time cooking and baking… but there are days, like today, where I feel extremely lazy. And this, my friends, is the best lazy dessert ever. It only:

  1. Requires 5 ingredients
  2. Has 2 directions AND
  3. Takes 10 minutes to prepare!

Could it get much better than that? Nope, I don’t think so either!

Flavor Substitutions…

As I mentioned above, chocolate-orange is a favorite flavor combination in our house. However, you can omit the orange zest (and orange extract) for a plain (but delicious) chocolate mousse, or create your favorite chocolate combination with a few drops of your favorite flavored extracts. If you’re feeling a little stumped on what flavor you are fancying (like me…a lot), here’s a few suggestions to spark inspiration:

  • Peppermint
  • Salted Caramel
  • Banana
  • Almond
  • Raspberry

How To Make This Perfect Mousse…

To make this marvelous mousse, use an electric beater to beat all the ingredients together, until stiff peaks appear. Cover it (or transfer it to an air tight container), and put it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (preferably a couple hours longer if you have the time, but its not necessary). Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and ENJOY!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 4.5 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 5 tbsp powdered Monkfruit sweetener (or your preferred confectioner's sweetener)
  • 2 tbsp orange juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 zest of small orange
  • 1 tsp orange extract (optional)

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized bowl, use an electric whisk to beat all the ingredients together, until stiff peaks appear.
  • Cover it (or transfer it to an air tight container) and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Serve with a large spoonful of freshly whipped cream for some extra yum!
